Mammals at Gisborough Priory
Posted on 6th October 2016
Volunteers working towards the restoration of Gisborough Priory’s historic gardens were interested to discover which small mammals were using the gardens. After a slide show in a stable – a first for the Trust – members learnt how to handle and set longworth traps. Traps that had been set earlier were recovered. We were fortunate to get a close up view of a bank vole which was handled by our mammal expert Kenny before being released back into the gardens. The volunteers then identified areas around the gardens that they thought would of interest from a small mammal perspective and set out a series of traps. We look forward to hearing how they got on and any new records they generate.
