Harvest mouse discovery day
Posted on 22nd October 2016
How is the tiny harvest mouse faring in East Cleveland? To help us answer this question we ran a harvest mouse discovery day to find out about the biology and ecology of harvest mice, ways to look for them and to learn more about their unique woven nests. Participants watched video material on the harvest mice, tried their hands at using longworth small mammal traps then helped survey an area of rough grassland behind the Trusts offices. No harvest mice were found, but our new ‘mischief of Mouseketeers’ were all willing to help survey other areas of East Cleveland during the autumn months.
We were joined at the workshop by a young photographer, Joe Monk who took the following photographs.
