Loftus Landscape History Workshop
Posted on 14th November 2017
We were really fortunate today to have Dr Chris Hill talk to the workshop about the depositional environments and terrestrial life of the Middle Jurassic. For most of East Cleveland the the Middle Jurassic geology forms the ground underneath out feet. Chris talked about his recent discoveries from some of the important plant fossil sites in our area. Tees Archaeology took the rest of the workshop and with the use of old maps, historic records and other evidence, participants at the end of the day were challenged to create the medieval landscape around Loftus. A really great day was had by all!
